The Second Fleet is the Federation's exploratory arm. Considered to be the premier assignment for officers who think exploration is the highest calling of the Federation. The fleets primary operating area is the area coreward of the capital area and the galactic core region. Even during the General War the majority of the fleet remained on survey duty finding resources to support the war effort. However, ships of the fleet can be found in any part of the Federation.[1]
